Want five minutes of fame?
This page is being set up to publish trip reports from anyone in the public that explores a Victorian Cave. Feel free to describe the cave, rate it, and give any comments that you think other cavers might find interesting or useful. Obviously please do not give away the exact location, but the general area and name of the cave are fine to include. Feel free to describe trips in the past too, even if your exact memories are a little faded but you have memories or impressions you think would be valuable for others to know.
Anonymous reports are also fine if you are concerned about privacy. The only information I will have is what you include. Just let me know if you have any conditions under which you’d like to submit information.
Please email your trip report to email@example.com
Once the trip report has been checked, it will be added right here, for everyone to read and appreciate!
Hi folks, the site has been up for a while and so far no trip reports. Perhaps you are all shy?
I thought I would get the ball rolling. The following is an article I wrote for Wild Magazine last year about cave access. Writing for a proper newsagent glossy as well known as Wild has been one of the highlights of my caving career! And thanks again for Bel Smith, editor at the time, for all her assistance. Here it is: subterranean sentiments revised 1
Hope you like the article and find it thought provoking. It is an issue that all cavers need to be aware of and given the fairly (although not completely) poor caver-landowner relations especially in Buchan, is a topic that many cavers in many different organisations have been working on, and it is slowly improving. Enjoy!
